HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Today we had a very special visit in our high school. Some primary school children from CEIP Alba Plata joined us with their teachers for a Thanksgiving activity in our library. Kylie, our language assistant, explained to us how Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada from a Native American point of view, which was really interesting.

Besides, she showed us the basic moves of a traditional pow wow dance. If you'd like to know a bit more about how Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving or about traditional pow wow dancing, watch Kylie's presentation below. Aren't we lucky!! Thank you Kylie!

If there is one thing we are thankful for in our high school is books because we DO love READING, so we asked our visitors which book they are grateful for and leave a suggestion on our Thanksgiving bulletin board and here is the final result:

ARE YOU A FAN OF SCARY FILMS?

The Ten Steps is a short film set in Ireland.  A family moves to a new city neighborhood, taking residence in a large, old house that is rumoured to have a dodgy past. Their young daughter Katie is caught in a power outage while the parents are out to dinner, and her father insists that she go down to the basement to fix the fuse. When they'd first moved in, Katie had a panic attack in the basement, brought on by stories that the devil once appeared down there.

AUTUMN MEANS...CONKERS!!

During the months of September, October and even November it is easy to find young and old picking conkers in parks to play a very traditional game: conkers. It is a game which has been played every autumn for generations but nowadays fewer children are playing it. If you're interested in finding out how to play this popular game, watch the video below. It looks easy, but it's not. Would you like to give it a go?

AUTUMN IS FINALLY HERE!

Have you spotted any signs yet?
