WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR?

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century, when the First Thanksgiving is said to have been held in the New World. In this video, students of 1st and 3rd ESO learnt about the origins of this unique festivity:

Traditionally, Thanksgiving Day is a day to celebrate the abundant harvest and other blessings of the past year. Today this celebration is rich in legend and symbolism. Typically, a Thanksgiving Dinner includes roast turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. It is definitely a day to be grateful for.

1st ESO students learnt through the story My Gratitude Jar by Kristin Wiens what it really means to be thankful and then wrote their gratitude messages in the presentation below.

To top it all off, we had some Augmented Reality fun with Quiver Masks and everybody in class turned into cute ( and sometimes spooky) turkeys.

ENGLISH SPEAKING CLUB

Do you love everything English? Do you like speaking English? If so, you only need to come and join our speaking club every Friday during the first break in the school library.

This initiative is one of the activities programmed within the Active Breaks Project in our school. It has been a great success so far. Apart from brushing up their English, our students have played different games ( traditional ones, boardgames, etc.) and they have also done some paper crafts. Why don't you come and join us too?

LEARNING WITH GRANT

This year we also have the good company of Grant, our language assistant.

We are working on a very interesting project about “Information Consumption”. It’s a different way of learning new vocabulary and practising oral skills  with a native speaker while developing critical thinking.

We are enjoying it a lot!  😊

REMEMBRANCE DAY: LEST WE FORGET

Do you know why British people wear poppies on the 11th November?

Students of both 1st and 3rd ESO paid their own tribute to the soldiers who died during the war.
