After a few busy days working really hard for exams and projects, our Bilingual Section students took part in a digital escape room in which they had to uncode the secret message that revealed where our cute handmade leprechaun hats were. It was really good fun!! Would you like to have a go too?

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Our students in 2nd Year ESO have created some LAPBOOKS to contribute to the activities carried out at school to commemorate International Women's Day (March 8). They show information in a very original and attractive way about relevant women from Extremadura in different fields, such as cinema, entertaining, journalism, literature, and many others.

SPREAD LOVE... A VALENTINE'S DAY ACTIVITY
Do you know about the history behind Valentine's Day?
The day gets its name from a famous saint, but there are various stories of who he was. The popular belief about St Valentine is that he was a priest from Rome in the third century AD.
Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. Valentine felt this was unfair, so he broke the rules and arranged marriages in secret. When Claudius found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and sentenced to death.
There, he fell in love with the jailer's daughter and when he was taken to be killed on 14 February he sent her a love letter signed "from your Valentine".

Click on the interactive image below to find out more things about Valentine's, learn a whole lot of very lovable ( and cheesy!) vocabulary and make your own love poem based on the popular 'Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you'. You can find inspiration in the ones created by our Bilingual Section students in our creative writing workshop. Have a look at them in our 'Spread Love!' display in the gallery! We hope you'll like them!

LANGUAGE EXCHANGE ACTIVITY WITH IES RAYUELA (MÓSTOLES)
Before the Christmas holiday, we had the chance to take part in a language exchange with a group of students of 1º ESO of IES Rayuela in Móstoles conducted by their teachers Nuria Muñoz and Cristina Muñoz. It was a fantastic oppotunity for our students to practice their English in a more relaxed and informal context. Students had to briefly introduce themselves in the cooperative presentation below, giving basic information about where they live, their hobbies and favourite things. We then prepared a series of ice-breaker questions in advance based on the presentations of each high school. Students made the most of their time when talking and asking their questions to their peers. We had really good fun and we hope to do this again very soon!
CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY 2020
Once again, in December 2020 we held the already traditional Christmas Jumper Day. Students from all bilingual groups took part in it and the results were truly amazing, as you can see below.
We also had the chance to visit the Bilingual Section Christmas Tree in the hall. It's a very special one since it has been designed using Augmented Reality technology. Tips on how to spend an environmentally-friendly Christmas are hidden behind each of the objects in the room. Have a close look at both the photos and video and see if you can uncover some of the messages!!
Have a wonderful, peaceful and smart Christmas!!!

ORAL EXPOSITIONS
To finish this covid term, students have prepared some oral expositions to share with the class.
This kind of activities are very useful to improve oral and communication skills.
They looked for
information about some of the topics related to the units worked in class: music,
shopping, family, etc. They prepared a presentation with pictures and relevant
information, and they talked about it in front of the class.
At the
beginning they were very nervous and a bit embarrassed. But they eventually got
over their fears and the activity was a success!!!
Well done!! 👍
