MATHS IN MOVEMENT

     Students from 1ºESO have been working on problem solving with decimal numbers. They have a different class and they have learnt a lot as Maths are easier if we play along.

               

                                

14th FEBRUARY_Saint Valentine's Day

   As you all know, Saint Valentine's day (lovers' day) is celebrated all over the world on this day.

   We are aware of the importance of LOVE to rule the world and make it a better place for everyone.

   The students from the Bilingual Section and the British Council have worked on this issue from a Literature point of view. They have looked for British and American poets who wrote abour love and they have noted down some of their words on paper hearts. They have learnt about English poetry and they have enjoyed a "lovely morning".

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

 

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on 11th February. 

In the Bilingual Section we have made a chronological selection 5 of these women whose work is fundamental to many of today's studies and discoveries.

CONTEST TO DESING THE LOGO OF THE SECTION

 We are holding a contest among our students to design the logo of the bilingual section.

WORLD PEACE DAY

 

Last Monday 31st January, to celebrate World Peace Day, the students of the bilingual section, together with other classmates from the school, have worked on this theme with the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. 

We have learnt about the song, the author, how this song has become an anthem of peace worldwide and we have launched our messages of peace for the whole school and the rest of the world.

GETTING TO KNOW A BIT ABOUT CANADA

 

Today, the 4th grade bilingual students have been learning about Canada with Alejandra. We have learnt about the climate, the political organisation, the landscape, the customs...and we have been comparing them with Spain (and Cáceres). 

It is the first time that Alejandra is in our country so we have been exchanging information during the whole class. It has been a very productive session as we have also tought about the differences and similarities between the two countries.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS IN THE SCHOOL

 

To end up the first term we have enjoyed some activities to warm up for Christmas holidays.

We have held our traditional Christmas Jumper competition. Students wore their DIY jumpers and they tried to convince the jury to vote for their creations. It was a very funny morning!!

We have also designed traditional Christmas cards. We brought some of them to Alba Plata Primary school to wish Merry Christmas to our friends!

We have been decorating the school with European Christmas scenes. Germany, Austria, Italy…and of course United Kingdom had a place with us!!

ALEJANDRA, OUR NEW LANGUAGE ASSISTANT!

 

This year we are SO LUCKY that we have another Language Assistant in our school.

Alejandra is from Canada and she has not come on her own. Her children are here too. Liselle is in 2º ESO and Annel is in 4ºESO in our school. The youngest brother is in Alba Plata Primary school.

ERASMUS PROJECT: SUSTAINABLE CITIES

 

We are working on a European Erasmus Project called Sustainable Citites. Past and Present. We are associated with four more schools from Italy, France, Poland and Greece. Our students are carrying on different activities to learn about our heritage and how our city has evolved from the Prehistory period to the 21^st century.  We are intended to travel to the different schools to share our work and find the differences and similitudes among our countries.

Last week, teachers from the European schools visited us to talk about the different aspects of the project: activities, heritage, schedule for trips…the experience was fantastic. Our students are willing to meet their European mates and sharing this big experience!

BLOSSOM OF CULTURES: PROJECT WITH TURKISH STUDENTS

 Students from 4ºESO are starting to work on an international project in etwinning with a Turkish school. 

We are going to share with them different aspects related to our homeland and country cultures. 

We have already introduced each other using padlet. 

It has been very a very funny way to get to know our Turkish mates.

                                              A SPOOKY DAY

Last Friday we celebrated Halloween at school. Students were told to come to school in black with a  spooky accessory if they liked.

We also had the recycable workshop contest prizes, spooky songs in the breaktime, trick or treat, a tour around the school to see the class doors students from 1st and 2nd year ESO had been decorated with their English, the Maths pumkin contest, kahoots, the soopky wheel  and, of course, many many many photos in our photocall.

        Thanks to all our teachers from de Bilingual section for their great job so our students could enjoy an awesome and terryinng Halloween morning!!!  👏👏👏👏👏👏
