TELLEZ TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS JUMPER COMPETITION

     This year we also held our traditional DIY Christmas Jumper Competition.

     It was a great success. Thank you to all the participants and the teachers involved - that's Christmas spirits!

WASTE REDUCTION ACTIVITIES_ SUSTAINABILITY IESTELLEZ

  The theme of our school this year is "sustainability" and to work on it with our students the 3rd ESO bilingual and 3rd ESO 1 groups visited the Interlun waste management plant in Cáceres last week. 

Thanks you for the visit and the workshops. 

A great activity within the European Week for Waste Reduction. 

El lema de nuestro centro este año es "sostenibilidad" y para trabajarlo con nuestro alumnado los grupos de 3ºESO bilingüe y 3ºESO 1 visitaron la semana pasada la planta de gestión de residuos Interlun en Cáceres. 

Gracias por la visita y los talleres. 

Una gran actividad dentro de la Semana Europea de Reducción de Residuos. 

25th NOVEMBER

 El 25 de noviembre es el día internacional de la erradicación de la violencia contra las mujeres. Como todos los años por estas fechas,  hemos llevado a cabo unas actividades con nuestro alumnado, para que sigan tomando conciencia sobre este tema tan importante. 

 25th November is the international day for the eradication of violence against women. As we do every year on this date, we have carried out some activities with our students, so that they can continue to raise awareness of this important issue.

DIWALI

 Diwali is the most important festival of the year in India, a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. Celebrated by more than a billion people of various faiths across India and its diaspora, the five days of Diwali are characterised by prayers, feasting, fireworks, family gatherings and donations. For some, Diwali also marks the beginning of a new year.

But Diwali is better known as the festival of lights. It derives from the Sanskrit dipavali, meaning 'string of lights', and is famous for the glowing clay lamps that are placed in front of the houses of those celebrating the festival.

The dates of the festival are based on the Hindu lunar calendar, which marks each month according to the time it takes for the moon to orbit the earth. Diwali begins just before the arrival of a new moon between the Hindu months of asvina and kartika, which normally coincide with the Gregorian calendar months of October or November. In 2022, Diwali began on 24 October and ends on 28 October.

Anisha, our language assisstant, is from India and she prepared some activities and worskhops to show us the importance of this festival.

El Diwali es el festival más importante del año en la India, un periodo para celebrar el triunfo de la luz sobre la oscuridad, del saber sobre la ignorancia y del bien sobre el mal. Los cinco días del Diwali, celebrado por más de mil millones de personas de diversos credos en toda la India y en su diáspora, se caracterizan por los rezos, los banquetes, los fuegos artificiales, las reuniones familiares y los donativos. Para algunos, el Diwali también marca el comienzo de un nuevo año.

Pero el Diwali es más conocido como el festival de las luces. Deriva del sánscrito dipavali, que significa «hilera de luces», y es famoso por las relucientes lámparas de arcilla que se colocan frente a las casas de quienes celebran esta fiesta.

Las fechas de este festival se basan en el calendario lunar hindú, que marca cada mes según el tiempo que tarda la Luna en orbitar alrededor de la Tierra. El Diwali comienza justo antes de la llegada de una luna nueva entre los meses hindúes de asvina y kartika, que normalmente coinciden con los meses de octubre o noviembre del calendario gregoriano. En 2022, el Diwali empezó el 24 de octubre y acaba el 28 de octubre.

Anisha, nuestra auxiliar de conversación, es de la India y preparó algunas actividades y talleres para mostrarnos la importancia de este festival.

WE ARE COPS!!

 Students from 1º ESO 15 have worked on physical descriptions with a very cool activitiy. 

They first watched a video and then they played the role of being police officers; they had to draw a protrair robot of a criminal!!! 

It has been a great class!!! Thanks to their teacher María for such a fantastic idea!!

 Los alumnos de 1º ESO 15 han trabajado las descripciones físicas con una actividad muy chula. 

¡¡¡Primero han visto un vídeo y luego han hecho el papel de ser policías, han tenido que dibujar un retrato robot de un delincuente!!! 

¡¡¡Ha sido una clase genial!!! ¡¡Gracias a su profesora María por tan fantástica idea!!

Last 8 September, the British royal family announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died at Balmoral after more than 70 years of reign in England. The death of the 96-year-old monarch was followed by the declaration of national mourning for 10 days.

El pasado 8 de septiembre, la familia real británica comunicó que la reina Isabel II había fallecido en Balmoral tras más de 70 años de reinado en Inglaterra. Al fallecimiento de la monarca, de 96 años, le siguió la declaración de luto nacional durante 10 días.

We are very happy to be back in the classroom for another year. Welcome to all of you, especially to our new 1st ESO students, and to all of you who have decided to join our bilingual programme this year.

The teaching team is on the move! We have lots of ideas for you to make the most of the coming months.

Estamos muy contentos de regresar un año más a las aulas. Bienvenidos a todos, en especial a nuestro nuevo alumnado de 1º de ESO, y a todos aquellos que habéis decidido formar parte de nuestro programa bilingüe este curso.

El equipo de profesores está en marcha! Tenemos muchas ideas para que disfrutéis al máximo estos próximos meses.

AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PRINCIPAL

 Students from 1ºESO have worked on an interview with Juan Payo, our school's principal. 

  Last Friday we had the chance tohave a funny meeting with him. We asked him questions about different things regarding the school and his career path.

   Here you are the transcription of the interview. 

  

       

     Hello! We are students from 1ESO 10/15 and we have some questions for you.

STUDENTS: When and where were you born?

PRINCIPAL:   I was born in 1964 in a little village in the North of Extremadura called Eljas.

S: How old are you?

P: As I was born in 1964 I am 58 years old.

S: Are you married?

P: yes, I am

S: How many children have you got?

P: I have two daughters, Laura and Beatriz.

S: What is your favourite food?

P: My favourite food is rice.

S: What’s your favourite colour?

P: I think my favourite colour is red.

S: Do you like travelling?

P: Yes, very much.

S: What is your favourite country?

P: My favourite country is Canada. I travelled there in 2010 and I loved it.

S: What time do you get up?

P: I get up at 7 o’clock every day.

S: How long have you been working?

P: I have been working as a teacher since 1987

S: Why do you like your profession?

P: I don’t know, because I have worked as a teacher for a very long time.

S: Do you like your school?

P: Of course! It’s the best school!!

S: When do you

P: I don’t know, it’s a difficult question. Maybe because I started here when I was younger and maybe I wanted to end up in the school as a headmaster.

S: What teachers do you have the best relationship with?

P: I prefer not to answer this question hahaha

S: Do you have any good relationship with the students?

P: Yes, I think I have a good relationship with some students.

S: Do you have in mind to improve the furniture?

P: yes!! Every day we have this idea in mind!

S: Are you going to put a cafeteria?

P: It’s a difficult question. I think about it every day but the school has no space for it.

S: how did you get the idea to create the zellet?

P: It’s a fantastic idea!

S: Would you like to see our school in a different way?

P: Oh! Yes but as the school changes every day, I don’t think much about the future.

S: Have you got a new project in mind?

P: of course! I have in mind my retirement!!
